Professional Research
These studies were made available to the World Bank, local and national nongovernmental organizations (NGO), and published and presented in international venues. My professional experience working in the conservation field has highlighted the need for more locally suitable and, therein, sustainable policies.
As part of FOREST: The Florida Organization on Religion, Environmental Science, and Technology, I co-wrote the grant Religion, Science & the Future:A Proposal for a Multi-Year Forum and Research Initiativepresented to the Metanexus Global Network Initiative Continuation Program of the Metanexus Society. I proceeded to co-chair Years Three and Four: Religion and Science on Health and Well Being and Consciousness, Mysticism, & Meditative Practice. This effort involved organizing monthly seminars that brought together university professors, students and practitioners into a collaborative network to engage in generating ideas, partnerships, and specific activities for future conferences and research projects. This work culminated in a collaboratively created proposal: Neuropsychology, Meditative Practices and Sacred Sites.
Presently, I am working with Dr. Paul Monaghan at the University of Florida’s Agricultural Education and Communication department and the Center for Low-Impact Development using Community-Based Social Marketing and videography to evaluate resident perceptions and relationships to their local environments and improve the implementation of community-guided programs that promote water quality and water conservation practices in Florida (in terms of stormwater pond eutrophication, installing and using soil moisture sensor technology, seagrass degradation, and understanding how resident's connect their indivdidual practices with the affects on springs and the springshed).
